Why Study Business Education?
Every time you buy a bar of chocolate or do your paper round you play a part in the business world. Choosing a Business related course gives you an understanding of the real world and helps you to get the most out of your roles as customer, college student, employee and maybe later on, employer.

In the Business Education Department we currently offer three courses.

GCSE Business Communications
GCSE Business Studies
Applied GCSE Leisure and Tourism

What can I do with a Business Education Qualification?
A Business related course gives you a wide range of further education options including A Level or Vocational choices.

A Business Education course also provides you with the kinds of skills that employers look for, including:

Time Management Communication
Use of Information Technology Working in Teams
Working Individually Use of Initiative
Presentation of Skills Analysis of Data

What are the Lessons like?
Learning Business Studies of any kind is interesting and has a valuable place in the curriculum. The lessons you are taught are carefully planned to appeal to all kinds of learners.

You won’t spend every lesson out and about, there are some traditional lessons that involve you listening and asking and answering questions and some lessons where you take part in practical ‘hands on’ activities.

In many of the lessons you will be able to use the computers, you will also be taught how to use the following software to an advanced level:

• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Publisher
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Powerpoint

You will also learn how to search the web effectively to find the resources to produce quality work.

You will have the opportunity to visit some real businesses as this will help you to understand what you are learning.

What can you do to help yourself?
You need to make sure that you pick a business related course, because you are interested in learning about the subject.
You need to be highly motivated and want to get good results.

You have to take responsibility for your own learning, this means managing your time and behaviour, so that you do your very best – why? Because you’re worth it!!
