Team 20
During the Christmas Half Term, we decided to trial a new initiative to motivate some of our more reluctant Year 11 boys.
Using a variety of data and professional judgement, we selected 20 boys who have the potential to gain 5 or more strong GCSE results but do not always work to the best of their ability. These students were put into 5 teams each with a member of the Senior Leadership Team overseeing them.
Each week, they had to get an ‘Effort Report’ signed by their GCSE teachers giving them a points score and individual, team and league positions were updated weekly. 6 weeks later, the boys are all working harder, and therefore achieving more, and all have expressed an interest in continuing the initiative next term.
However, next term there is a twist. We are including 1 girl in each team – will they rise to the challenge?!
The prizes for the first season were kindly donated by InterSport which meant that all participants received a reward.
