YEAR 8 NETBALL TRIP
In March, the Year 8 Netball Team travelled to Jersey for the annual St Michael’s Netball Tournament. This year, 21 teams from Jersey, Guernsey and the UK congregated to play the round-robin tournament.
We had to meet very early in the morning at Guernsey airport to get our short flight to Jersey. Niamh Todd had never flown before, so there was much hilarity as we all watched her face during take off. We then picked up a bus, together with Les Beaucamps and Blanchelande School to take us in to town for our pre-tournament shopping and compulsory Macdonalds.
The bus then took us to the school for a warm-up before the tournament started. We were in a group with 6 other schools and acquitted ourselves very well, winning 2 matches and drawing another to end up 4th in our group. The standard of play was very high, but all of our team listened hard to the advice from the coaches and played well as a team, supporting each other totally.
All the schools then gathered together for the traditional scrummy tea and presentation, before we had to make our way back to Jersey airport for our flight home, tired but happy.
The 8 squad members were:
Kelsey Van Katwyck, Hannah Collenette, Rachel Le Garff, Niamh Todd, Megan Diamond, Rebecca Hobson, Karlie Bullock, Jenna Jackson-Batiste
