Geography
Floods in Britain, floods in Asia. Hurricanes in the Caribbean, storms in Guernsey. Geography is all around us. Geography is about understanding the complex connections between the Earth and its people. At St. Sampson’s, we aim:
-
To motivate students into forming a curiosity about and an understanding of both the natural and human world around them.
-
For students to appreciate the diversity of peoples and culture.
-
To foster a desire to care for and appreciate both the local and the global environment.
To enhance an awareness of global interdependence. -
To recognise the importance of sustainable development and how this essential for the future of our world.
-
For students to consider their own attitudes and position in the world, as well as other peoples’.
-
To expand their knowledge of locations and geographical features both locally and globally.

Revision & Exam Technique
The coursework is based upon a one day fieldtrip during May of Year 10. All year 10 Geography students spend a day at three popular beaches in Guernsey – Petit Bot, Cobo and Ladies’ Bay. We investigate whether these popular beaches have similar characteristics and features.
